What Does the Word "Natural" Mean on our Food Labels?
When you
see foods that are labeled "natural" as opposed to "certified
organic" it means that they can use genetically modified/genetically
engineered (GMO or GE) foods and as well as non-organic foods. If you can't
afford to go ALL organic please note that the most important foods to eat organically
are: corn, soy, canola oil and soon alfalfa, sugar beets and salmon (as these
are the foods that are being genetically modified. The "USDA Organic" label on foods means that all the ingredients are organic. There are also products listing "non-GMO" and some organic ingredients. For example soy products may say "organic soybeans" but not have a USDA Organic label which means that the soybeans are organic (one of the most important things to eat organic) but the other ingredients may not be (which may be OK if they are not foods that are genetically modified).
